Program

					The program consists of a 12-week residential component, followed by open-ended, ongoing aftercare as a member of our Outreach community.				

Rent (fee for service) is paid fortnightly in advance and is affordable under Centrelink benefits.

Treatment at Glebe House is holistic and includes yoga, Pilates, ceramics, budgeting, cooking and living skills. Leisure and social activities also form part of the program. You will be required to participate in psycho-educational and life-skills groups, as well as individual case-management sessions to support your individual case plan. Psychological counseling is also provided to help you address underlying issues.

The program provides an immersive experience in the 12-Step way of life. While at Glebe House you will attend two meetings per day of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA) or Gamblers Anonymous (GA). You will also be required to begin a working relationship with a sponsor and encouraged to join a ‘home group’.

While in program residents are responsible for all the cooking and cleaning in the house. Household chores are allocated on a roster basis with weekly shopping a part of the program. Glebe House will be your home and you are encouraged to maintain the clean, homely environment that gives the place its unique atmosphere. You will also learn the skills needed for independent living and managing ‘life on life’s terms’.

After completing the residential part of the program you may continue in treatment as an Outreach client, taking advantage of ongoing counseling and support. You can participate in regular social and sporting activities or attend our Tuesday ‘spaghetti night’ and peer support group.

The Outreach Program offers open-ended, ongoing aftercare at no charge. It will help you continue to develop healthy relationships with other men in recovery, giving and receiving love and support. Once you have been through the program you are always part of the Glebe House Family.

Criteria

The program is twelve-weeks; some clients may stay longer depending on needs. Alterations to program must be approved by the Manager.
Exit planning and the transition component of the program are all considered throughout the clients’ stay; a Stage 2 outreach program is available for suitable clients.
Glebe House has a total of seven beds; it runs as a therapeutic community and clients are required to participate in meal preparation and daily chores.
Clients are required to remain abstinent from gambling, drugs, and alcohol use while a resident and must be willing to address their substance abuse issues while in the program.
Regular random supervised urinalysis is collected throughout the twelve weeks; clients must be willing to provide this; random breath testing also occurs.

In case of relapse, drug and/or alcohol affected clients will not be able to remain at Glebe House while affected; the client will be assisted to find alternative accommodation and then exited.
Glebe House program activities will be expected to take precedence over family/community obligation for the twelve-week duration; clients can make requests for outside program activity, following managerial approval process.
Clients will be engaged in Twelve Step programs.
Clients will attend two A.A., N.A. or G.A. meetings, one during the day and one at night, every day/night, except weekends (one on weekend days/nights and public holidays), while in the Glebe House program – unless given staff permission to do otherwise.
Clients have a 10:30pm curfew.

Eligibility

Glebe House requires that all clients are 30-days clean from all substances, and that all admissions provide clean urinalysis results prior to admission.
We do not accept clients on pharmacotherapy such as methadone or buprenorphine etc.
Clients subject to Extended Supervision Orders or with any charges of a sexual nature are not eligible.
Clients who have had mental health episodes in prior 6 months are not accepted without a comprehensive mental health assessment from treating physician with documentation of diagnosis and treatment options.
